Perhaps it's in our Bostonist blood to appreciate the artistic decor of holiday lights that people adorn their homes with this month. (We affectionately refer to our own father as "Clark Griswold" this time of year due to his ability to decorate a house with close to "25,000 italian twinkling lights." Let's not forget the plastic figurines, either.) This month, Bostonist will be featuring some local homes that we think look fabulously festive in all their illumination. Just a little holiday gift from us to you. If these photos don't get you all excited for the holidays, we don't know what will. Maybe a flat screen Plasma? That's bit out of Bostonist's budget.
For the first in the series, Bostonist went to the source, our own "Clark Griswold", for his annual display way out in the 'burbs of Franklin.
(Please note that Bostonist did not approve of name being written on Santa's list, which happens to include the two family dogs as well. This can be quite embarrassing when one is in junior high...and unfortunately Santa has been featured in the front yard every year since.)

Thank you for the photos, C.G.!

Democratic Primary Debate at WGBH: Transcript Time!

I don't have a digital camera of my own, but you simply must go to Lynn Fells Parkway in Saugus, just off Route 1.
There's this one house right on Lynn Fells that barely has any unlit square foot on yard or lawn.
Then, a few blocks away down Bennett St. (I think) are several more houses that are probably visible from orbit.
Traffic slows past these houses and sometimes people even get out to walk and gawk. They really must be seen to be believed.
If there are more-lit private homes in the Boston area, I find it hard to believe. I sometimes wonder whether these people work for the electric company, they use so much power...
