Red Sox Rants and Questions

bos.gif
With everything up in the air and discombobulated in this 2005/2006 offseason for the Boston Red Sox, there are some burning questions and issues that must be brought up and discussed. Feel free to comment liberally Bostonists!

2 GMs, eh? We had ONE good one, but SOMEONE let him get away...

Nomar - Guess what? He's not coming back... Bostonist would love it, but it’s just not gonna happen. Nomar still has a bitter taste in his mouth from his last time around in Boston, especially the media scrutiny. Forget it. Put it out of your mind.

Who does more posturing, the Red Sox brass with the Theo stuff and GM issues, or Bill Belichick and his weekly injury reports?

The Rocket - As much as Bostonist is tainted by the Rocket departure, throwing the Sox and Dan Duquette under the bus, and his career resurgence, anyreal Sox fan would love to have a 7 time Cy Young award winner, and one of the best pitchers of all-time in their rotation, right?

Are the Sox really going to go into 2006 with Alex Cora as the starting shortstop?

If you haven't had a chance tolisten to Larry Luchino's interview on WEEI, its worth the time, even though its quite long (30 plus minutes).

Theo is part of the Sox organization and has been pulling strings all along, right? He might not be GM, but he will eventually be part of the Sox organization and have a major hand in the 2006 effort.

Kudos, congratulations, and best of luck to Bill Mueller who recently signed a 2 year $9.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. A true Red Sox and DirtDog. Best of luck.

Are the Sox really going to give up the prized prospect from the Renteria deal (Marte) and Guillermo Mota for a guy named after a breakfast cereal (Coco Crisp)?

Bostonist will be watching.

Nomar probably wants more money than Boston could give him. And where would he play? He might not have the range for shortstop anymore, but I think he's only played two other positions, third (which would seem to be Lowell's spot) and second (Loretta's). Maybe he could be converted to the outfield, but who knows how easy that would be.
