City Hall Plaza Really Is As Ugly As We Always Thought

CHP.JPGWhere has Bostonist been these days? We’re not telling, but Monday afternoon, we finally got back on ye olde interweb and discovered that the world actually did continue to turn during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and even over the holiday weekend. Luckily, Adam at Universal Hub appears to be less of a perennially hung-over lush than Bostonist, and he has kept his eye on developments relating to our fair city. Foremost among these, we think, is that the non-profit Project for Public Spaces has named Boston’s City Hall Plaza the public square most in need of improvement in the whole world! “City Hall and the Plaza should be torn down and rebuilt as a great gathering place linked to all the great places nearby,” says PPA, and Bostonist couldn’t agree more. In the mean time, may we suggest that the city start using the Plaza to dump plowed snow? We know it’s hard to find places to put all that snow, and we would definitely enjoy the availability of an enormous sledding hill right across the street from our office. And maybe, if we’re lucky, the mountain of snow could get high enough so that we can’t see City Hall at all!
