Get Board not Bored

gamenight_1_06.jpeBostonist’s little cousin unwrapped his toys on Christmas morning. We watched; longing for the days when it was socially acceptable for us to drop marbles onto a structure we’d put together, watching them twist, turn, and spin some wheels before plunking into a cup at the bottom. Sooz and the ExploitBoston team have made it socially acceptable again. Pairing alcohol with board games makes it both acceptable to play and reduces motor skills just enough so that a game for ages 6 and up actually seems challenging. Case in point: remove the Charlie Horse in Operation when you’re three Vodka-Tonic’s deep on the evening.

Choose from board games like Scategories and Scrabble, to tell you the truth Bostonist just might indulge ourselves and play a little Uno tonight. Though we’ve never heard of it before, there is promise of Apples to Apples being played all night long so you’ll have a chance to try it out. ExploitBoston has been holding monthly game night at True Grounds in Ball Square (across the street from Sound Bytes for all you brunchies) but has added a crop of the Paradise Lounge parties, tonight marks the first of 2006. Incentive to get there early: everything on the menu is only $5 until 8p.m.
