...literally.
The real estate market may be cooling down, but Bostonist would advise against buying that "steal" of a condo on Marginal Street in Chelsea before investigating one of the area's hidden...amenities(?): the overwhelming stench of rotting animal hides from Boston Hide and Fur's building.
Residents of the area appealed to the Health Department this week to try and force the company to clean up the stacks of hides held for trimming and shipping in the truck bays, which they say are causing a scent that is "unbearable" at best...in winter. And in the summer? Bostonist thinks this quote, from resident Daysi Perdomo, as told to NewsCenter 5's Jorge Quiroga, best sums up the offending bouquet: "Sometimes my daughters, they throw up."
Ahem.
Boston Hide and Fur's legal representation claims that the company is not in violation of any health or sanitation laws. In true local style, the board of health is "collecting more evidence" and will hold another hearing in February. Until then, those hot for property might want to consider EaBo or Everett. Both still sort of reek...just not enough to make us lose lunch.
