Let the Reservations Begin

wineandsuch_02-2006.jpgRestaurant Week, that wonderful time in late summer when Bostonist plans ahead so that we don’t break the bank eating $30 tasting menu dinners all week long. This year the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau has set up another Restaurant Week – Winter Restaurant Week 2006, March 5-10 (this URL was the one reported in multiple places including the press release but appears to be out of comission today) . Prices have gone up, but only for a penny to reflect the year. Lunch will be $20.06, dinner for $30.06. The three-course prix fixe menu is a quite a deal for dining in some spots around the Hub. Watch yourself not to go too reservation crazy, we’ve warned you before that the $12 Croma pizza may be great, but that means you’ve spent $18 on a start and finish to the meal.

Bostonist hasn’t been able to sniff out many menus yet for this time around. We’ll offer a guess as to what the Elephant Walk in their three locations will be serving, seeing as they offer a $29.95 and $39.95 tasting menu pretty much every day. Check out the bostonchefs.com Winter Restaurant Week page for a fairly well organized listing with links to online reservations (and menus when available). We were promised online browse-ability for this same information by the sponsors over at BostonUSA.com (thanks to sleuthy reader Jesse for a correct link). Starting of today reservations are now being accepted at all participating restaurants. Friday evening reservations are being taken at a serious clip, get those in fast. Bostonist is looking forward to fine dining at least one week in March. Until then we’re sticking to under $5 bowls of Bun and Bhan Mi in Chinatown, perhaps the occasional Saag Paneer fix at Punjabi Dhaba (also under $5).

You may want to amend that link, as "restaurant" is misspelled. However, even fixing the spelling didn't work for me; after looking around on their website I found a working page: http://www.bostonusa.com/visitor/resdet.php?&type=event&seqnum=16512

Jesse, thanks for the tip!
Chris, yes, that is the bostonchefs.com site mentioned in the post...it's "unofficial" and arguably better.
