We don't have deadlines — if you can write regularly for us that's all that matters. We may not be able to pay you, but we offer some benefits and we will happily buy you a few drinks every now and again.
If that appeals to you take the jump and find out more...
Here's what you should do about becoming part of the Bostonist team:
Ask yourself: What would I like to write about?
If you're a good writer with style and personality, that's what matters. There are a few areas — okay, many areas — we're not covering right now, and other areas we could use more coverage of. We could list everything we want to cover, but we want to cover almost everything in the Hub. Just because you haven't seen something covered on the site, it doesn't mean we want to avoid the subject. It just means no one has been writing about it. You could be that person.
Ask yourself: Will I be able to write regularly?
We won't turn you away if you are willing to post three to five times week. We need people who can write consistently. We’re willing to lower the post rate if you’ve got a particularly engaging topic that lends itself to a weekly feature (revive the Webcast Review!). As is often the case we’re looking for quality over quantity, but sometimes quantity is pretty good by itself.
Send us an example of your writing style.
Either send us something you've written in the past which you think we'll enjoy, or write an example of what you could write for Bostonist. Let us know what topic or general areas you’d like to tackle (we won’t pigeon-hole you just yet). If we like what we see, then we'll haze you mercilessly roll you end over end to find out how long the Harvard Bridge is and call you smoot buy you a drink and and introduce you to the rest of the team.
So, if all that sounds good, here's the email address to send your stuff to: jobs.bostonist(@)gmail.com
We look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks to Bostonist Christi for screwing around with one of her vintage typewriters for the image.
