Game 6. Yes - That Game 6

game6_poster.jpgAnother baseball-themed movie is due for big screen release. Unlike the cute Fever Pitch, where we got to see our beloved Red Sox win the World Series for the first time in 86 years, this movie deals with a real downer theme for those of us who reside in the Hub. The movie, titled Game 6, stars Michael Keaton and
Robert Downey, Jr. Keaton playsa life-long Sox fan and playwright, and the opening night of his Broadway play coincides with that fateful Game 6 twenty years ago. It mixes truth with fiction, and Bostonist is confident we’ll see that infamous ground ball roll by.

The screenplay was written by author Don DeLillo, who has penned such gems as the novels White Noise and End Zone. Game 6 is touted as his first "original screenplay." Though the movie made its world premier at Sundance, it's opening in Boston (NYC and a handfull of other markets) on Friday, March 10. It's a limited release, but there's no doubt it'll be playing within a short distance of Fenway. 2004’s season, especially the 7 games against the Yanks to take the pennant, got Bostonist in the winning spirit. Even though last year wasn’t a banner year, we're not quite sure we’re ready to go back to the iconic replay of the ball rolling past Mr. Buckner.
