Bostonist had a revelation this evening when it was finally made official that the Dave Matthews Band has been the chosen one to play at Fenway Park this summer. Bostonist's little sister (age 16) called in a hurry, asking if we had any connections to getting tickets and we suddenly felt very old. Bostonist now knows what our parents felt like when we would frequent Great Woods (now the Tweeter Center) to see the Allman Brothers each summer in high school. We stopped listening to Dave after freshman year of college but he's still attracting that Abercrombie (or American Eagle) crowd in droves to his concerts.
After last summer's Fenway concerts with the Rolling Stones, the organizers decided to invite a younger demographic to the park this year. Two concerts, scheduled for Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8, will open up with Sheryl Crow. Tickets are $65, which is chump change for the high school demographic; we all had extra cash from lawn mowing and babysitting back then. They go on sale on April 8 to the public but if you're a member of the Dave fanclub, you can start requesting tickets tonight.
Bostonist can't lie that we don't have a soft spot in our heart for that Crash album. That was one good summer album for 1996. That was a decade ago...we ARE old. Maybe hitting Fenway will make us feel like kids again?

Wow, can't wait until DMB takes a dump on Boston too. It'll be the most craptacular tour ever!
