Starbucks has decided to give you a little treat this morning by handing out free 12 oz. (or "tall" if you jive like that) Arabica coffee to celebrate its First Annual National Coffee Break. We first saw it mentioned over on boston.com on Monday but when we were accosted this morning outside Copley T station with a free copy of the Globe with an insulating Starbucks sleeve around it, it actually made Bostonist quite happy on this blustery March morning. So run over there quick because the free java ends at noon today. Now you can't say Starbucks never gave you anything for free, despite the fact that you spend on average $3 a day to support you "habit." (It's like your dealer giving you a kickback or something.)
UPDATE: It looks like the local Dunkin' Donuts just happens to be having a free coffee day too (a bit of a coincidence, no?) To promote their latest creation of the "Hot Turbo" (espresso and coffee mixed), they are handing out free samples until 1p.m. at their 715 Boylston Street store...oh and they're also giving free taxi rides downtown. Just jump into one of the pink and orange "Turbo Hot Taxis" at the Boylston Store and off you go. The cabs will be available until 6p.m. tonight.
