Supreme Judicial Webcasts

This morning we’re not really bringing you a specific video but an archive of videos so you can feel just like a real Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court. When we cracked open the print edition of the Boston Globe this morning, the story on Justice Sosman watching webcasts grabbed our interest. Why? Because we have a friend who runs around the halls of the SJC for a living, and it's nice to know that hot internet crazes are reaching him even there in the august and learned halls of justice.

Justice Martha B. Sosman has been using the site to keep up with the oral arguments that she’s been missing while undergoing treatment for cancer. We’re impressed - the internet serving as a useful thing rather that just entertaining us on a bad day. Bostonist booted up a couple of the videos and didn’t find one immediately gripping. For most of the arguments made before the SJC, the gallery is empty. We’re awarding bonus points, though, for the multiple camera angles focusing both on the judges and the lawyers presenting arguments.

The often link-free online edition of the Globe in this instance links out to the webcast archive hosed by Suffolk University Law. The image above was altered from March 6, 2006, docket number SJC-09650 - you can select video based on date and case name or, for the Law Clerk in all of us, by docket number.
