Off the Presses: Pre-Party Edition

paulrevereride.jpgSince Bostonist knows you are all gearing up for the big anniversary party tomorrow night at the Kinsale, we assume you’ll all be staying home and resting tonight…well, okay probably not, but we thought we’d do a news roundup today because hell, it’s Friday. We certainly don’t expect you to read a newspaper.

Bar Brawl on Newbury Street: Bostonist has had its fleeting moments of drunkenness over on Newbury Street’s basement level bar, Daisy Buchanan’s. It seems that this popular college student hangout (as well as Sox players destination post-games) was the scene of a crime last night as two people were stabbed out front; both are being hospitalized. (Side note: we must ask, why is it cited as “one of the city’s most popular bars”? Is it?)

The Heights are Alive: The Boston College Eagles will be taking the court against old Big East competitors, Villanova, tonight in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in Minneapolis. Tipoff is at 7:10p.m. After watching a big team like Duke get all weepy over its loss to LSU last night, Bostonist knows that anything can happen in this tournament…our bracket was tossed in the trash last week after Illinois went down in flames.

Road to the White House with a Layover in Rome: Romney decided to jaunt over to Rome to see Boston’s own Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley become a cardinal earlier this morning. Last we checked he was a Mormon, but if Mitt is on his way to the White House, he knows what needs to be done.

No More Wire Hangers: Over 900 neat freaks are in town this week at the National Association of Professional Organizers’ annual get together. Bostonist was happy to learn that professional organizers can score up to $100 an hour for their skills. And to think that our O.C.D. was only being used in our small Bostonist apartment…we need to branch out and start charging for this.

St. Guillen Case Moves Forward: The N.Y.C. bouncer, Darryl Littlejohn, was indicted yesterday in Brooklyn after police found enough forensic evidence to charge him with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder in the death of Boston Latin grad Imette St. Guillen. Littlejohn plead not guilty.
