Franklin: Not Just a Suburb

We know that Franklin’s birthday was back in January. One of the founding fathers and the portrait on our favorite currency the Boston born Ben has been lost to our love of Star Wars. Bostonist feels like we need to take any opportunity to make good in remembering the electrifying, bifocal sporting, French-ambassadoring founding father in the year of the tercentennial anniversary of his birth her in the Hub. Today we take a ride with Enoty Prishli downtown to salute Franklin.

That's the burial site of Ben Franklin's parents. The great man himself is buried in Philly.

Um, I hope that wasn't a slam against my lovely hometown of Franklin, Massachusetts?! Why is it called Franklin you ask? Well, the town heard that Ben Franklin was giving them a sweet gift, which they hoped was a bell. So they jumped the gun and named the town "Franklin" for his generosity. The kicker is that he didn't give them a bell in the end. He gave them a bunch of books, which are still on display in the town library (the first public library in the nation!)Unfortunately, that is how the town got its name. Sad, but true.
