Why is it called Franklin you ask? Well, the town heard that Ben Franklin was giving them a sweet gift, which they hoped was a bell. So they jumped the gun and named the town "Franklin" for his generosity. The kicker is that he didn't give them a bell in the end. He gave them a bunch of books, which are still on display in the town library (the first public library in the nation!)Unfortunately, that is how the town got its name. Sad, but true.</p>
