Egg Hunt Not Necessary for Bostonist

250px-Cadbury_eggs.jpgWhen our friend from N.Y.C. visited a few weeks ago, she told us about a shocking problem that plagues Manhattan every spring season: a lack of Cadbury Creme Eggs. Now, we scoffed at our friend and told her she must be mistaken, especially since the Creme Egg is synonomous with Easter nowadays. But she insisted that she has her cousin in the Midwest ship them out to her so she too can celebrate with an Egg here and there. Bostonist forgot all about this Creme Egg problem until we read our snark of the day over at Gawker and saw that a reader wrote them looking for answers about the disappearing Cadbury Creme Eggs:

Along with Mr. Robin Red Breast, Cadbury Creme Eggs are the first sign of thawing, bringing us to sunlit skies and blossoming cherry trees. I have been to 10 different Duane Reades in different neighborhoods and none to be found.

Could it be that the city that seems to have everything cannot purchase the most beloved Easter candy treat? (Apologies to all the Peeps fans out there.) Another N.Y.C. friend suggested hitting up lesser known candy carriers like a Hallmark in Midtown for the Cadbury delights. So, to our Gothamist friends, we can suggest that...or write and let Bostonist know if you need to have some shipped. We've got a lead on a hot shipment straight from the Nottinghill Tube stop. (In London, they have Cadbury vending machines that sell only Creme Eggs, 3 for 1 pound. Unfortunately here in Boston, the Eggs are only available at the local CVS and not in T stations.)

But once you do get your hands on some Cadbury, we don't suggest you try these Gothamist-endorsed Easter recipes unless you are truly adventurous or have a case of Creme Eggs to burn through.

"Cadbury Creme Egg Day," which my friends and I celebrate, typically occurs on February 15. Valentine's is out, and the creme eggs are laid. It happens every year. The scarcity in some cities may be due to the fact that these things are so sweet and sugary they bounce themselves off the shelves.
