"The Rub", Brooklyn's number one dance party, is coming to Redline this Thursday, April, 13 to celebrate the 2-year anniversary of Reunion Thursdays - a Next Generation Productions night. Reunion Thursdays are the hottest nights in the Boston area - and this Thursday is raising it to new heights.
"The Rub" are no joke, one look at their press page or listen to one of their tracks on their myspace profile tells you that much. If you need more proof of just how incredible Thursday is going to be, keep in mind that The Village Voice dubbed their night the "Best party in Brooklyn to dance sweatily to smart music" in 2004, they were showcased artists at this year's South by Southwest, "The Rub" has had mentions and articles in magazines everywhere from SPIN to JANE to URB, and they are currently in the midst of a massive tour across the US (which includes another Boston date at the Paradise Lounge on April 27. ) These guys are truly unstoppable.
Thursday brings Boston 2 of the 3 DJs who have come to make "The Rub" part of New York vocabulary; DJ Ayres (myspace profile) and Cosmo Baker (myspace profile). Bostonist met up with DJ Elyte of Next Generation Productions to get the run down on what to expect from "The Rub" this Thursday. He explained that they are "all about an eclectic selection [of music]... lots of blends and mash-ups... but always focusing on the dancefloor." Basically, Thursday night at Redline is the place to be this week.
