If today’s fabulous spring weather is inspiring you to get out of the apartment tonight, then you should stop by the Sebastian Junger event we told you about yesterday…and if for some reason you are feeling very studious tonight, why not make it a double header? For those of you who are on the ball, you already bought your tickets to the Jonathan Safran Foer event at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline. After this past year’s mixed reviews of the movie based on his book, Everything is Illuminated, Safran Foer is out doing a second book tour for his latest book, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which is now out in paperback. (It seems that this is all the rage with book publicity now...promoting paperbacks like they are completely new books?) Well, this Brookline Booksmith event is at 6p.m. but has been sold out for awhile; we did just hear about a second reading this evening at of all places, Big City. Although Bostonist only knows this place for its pool tables and pizza, it seems this restaurant/bar is also catering to a bookish crew this evening. The Weekly Dig is hosting an event tonight that's being billed as "a Night of Music, Entertainment, and Interpretive Readings.” Safran Foer will read some of his favorite stuff to the live music of Boston’s local band, Devil Music Ensemble.
To Bostonist, this author event sounds way more appealing than the normal readings. Live music+famous author+beers= a good time. Admission is only $1 too; it's 21+ and the event kicks off at 8:30p.m.
Big City, 138 Brighton Street, Allston. (617)782-2020
