On Bostonist's last trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, we hit the gift shop hoping to pick up a nice print for our living room. Sick of looking at our roommate's Monet painting hanging over the television, we hit the posters section and unfortunately came up with nothing. So, since we're still stuck with the same Impressionism piece in our apartment, Bostonist was excited to hear about the Boston Print Fair that's going on this weekend at the Boston Public Library's McKim Building. This year's show has prints and posters of all types of art (vintage posters, watercolors, photographs, etc.) for all types of budgets. Since our budget is on the low side, we'll be checking out the "under $100" prints but some of these pieces will cost up to $100,000. (We assume that the works of Toulouse-Lautrec, Manet, and Rembrandt would fall into that category.) And if you are a cartographer at heart, there will be some old maps of New England and the Northeast to buy as well.
The Print Fair opens tonight with a preview reception, where admission is $50. (We suggest you put that $50 toward a print instead.) Open Saturday 11a.m.-5p.m. and Sunday 1p.m.-5p.m. Admission is Free.
