We weren't sure when Bank of America merged with Fleet and started splashing their patriotic colors about town. Green = Money / Money = Fleet...why, the concept was as visually obvious as pink+orange = Dunkin' Donuts.
How would we react to this new (financial) suitor...play coy? Be gullibly trustworthy? Bostonist needed reassurance. We needed coddling, not to mention...free stuff.
So during May, BofA is taking us out for an afternoon museum date, and we're not going dutch on the check. This month, Bank of America and MBNA cardholders and a guest can gain free entrance to 50+ museums in the Northeast during the Museums on Us promotion.
There are some great "requisite" local places in the mix, like the DeCordova Museum & Sculpture Park , John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Museum of Science, and everyone's favorite old saucy dame, Isabella Stewart Gardner's Museum.
Bostonist is a bit intrigued by some of the less-touristed museums, like the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Or, be a day-tripper and see how many out-of-state museums you can hit during a weekend. In the least, you'll come back with a sweet collection of metal admission badges.
C'mon, you might as well get something back for all those overdraft fees.

I recommend New Bedford and the Whaling Museum. You can read about the trip over at the City Record and Boston News-Letter.
Thanks for the tip! I hadn't heard about this promotion. I don't use the bank (I got out of "fee-for-everything-land" while it was still BayBank), but my girlfriend does!
Fleet did this too, it isn't a new thing that BofA is doing.
and BankBoston did it too, before Fleet bought them.
