The Rolling Stones postpone a show in the US to allow singer Sir Mick Jagger time to rest his voice...

To the second Chris:

You disagree that huge swaths of the college population find this war to be immoral? Because other than that, I don't see any assumptions the first Chris is making and I think he's on pretty steady ground with his assertion.

Besides, it is pretty clear that Condi and others in the Bush administration have little to no use for people who disagree with them.

Chris wrote-----

But doesn't graduation serve a slightly different purpose? Like, say, congratulating the students on all their hard work, time and money, and not grabbing the most notable speaker possible regardless of whether that person was instrumental in orchestrating a war that huge swaths of the college population find to be immoral? And reprehensible? Don't get me wrong, I'm for pushing people. But doesn't that seem in slightly bad taste?

And Condi said---

But at those times when you're absolutely sure that you are right, go find somebody who disagrees. Don't allow yourself the easy course of the constant "amen" to everything that you say.

Someone doesn't want his assumptions challenged. It ain't Condi. Too bad what she tried to get accross was completely lost on you.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Yeah, John McCain has been exploiting the free exchange of ideas message in his (identical) commencement addresses. And I completely agree that college should be about the marketplace. But doesn't graduation serve a slightly different purpose?
