Back in March, when we first discovered that the Roomba robot vacuum was hackable we thought it was clever watching an animatronic monkey head roam the floor atop the device. We had no vision and forethought about what could come from hacking the iRobot (the Burlington based corporation making cleaning tools and sniper robots) vacuum. We're sad to report that this wasn't a contest held at some MIT performance center but rather on the other coast – in San Francisco. On May 9th Nerd Salon held a Roomba cockfight. Geek Entertainment Television was on hand and brings a video report to the masses. Can't sit through five minutes of a vacuum cockfight? Just want pictures? Flickr plays host to a whole set – which is part of the larger group all tagged with RoombaCockfight.
Your move MIT – you've got all summer to be hacking the Roomba, we expect something great in the fall. Look we made it through the whole post about vacuums without using the word "suck" – damn.
