3 inch blade! They'll max you out at 2.5 these days...but truthfully, 3 inches seems awful long for a swiss army knife.

What bothers me more is that the last time I was there, signs warned that you could get years in jail for carrying a knife with a 3-inch blade into the Old Ironsides area. Since I had my Swiss Army Knife on me, I decided to skip that part of the Freedom Trail rather than spend the next couple of years in a Freedom Jail.

The barriers have been in place after 9/11, you used to be able to roam the Navy Yard pretty free at night, there were many a night that I stumbled home from the Tavern on the Water passing by Old Ironside's...

no construction apparent - what it looks like is that they've just closed gate 1, more or less for good. The've got a security checkpoint complete with guard who checks cars underbellies with a mirror at the other gate. I am only speculating but it seems to be merely a security measure.
