Harpoon Brewstock 2006 Spotting the UFO

People in Boston have gotten pretty good at finding new and innovative ways to clear up the rainy day blues. Still in our collective memory is a two-week long wash out that had everyone wondering if we would ever see summer – or just have to build an ark real quick. With gray skies all day today and a weekend looking like it will be another washout, there is a never fail way to thwart the rainy day blues: getting a little tipsy with a couple hundred friends. Harpoon Brewstock happens this evening and tomorrow, rain or shine. In fact, it's been said that Brewstock is even more fun when it rains. Maybe the mud people will come out.

This year the brewery is celebrating its 20th birthday. Next year, when they're finally of legal age to drink their own beer, we're sure they'll make sure to order up good weather. Harpoon Brewery hosts the festival at their location in Southie. They'll run shuttle buses from South Station or you can figure out which Silver Line Waterfront to take (the Silverline is starting to become more confusing than the Green Line with all the letters and destinations – oh, and it's SL2 or SL3, hop off at Harbor Street). $12 admission gets you (if you're 21 or older) into the festival and a commemorative pint glass. Live music plays on two stages for the event.

Harpoon Brewery is located at 306 Northern Ave., Boston
Brewstock runs tonight from 5:30 to 11:00 pm and Saturday 2:00 to 9:00 pm
