Wednesday kicks off the 4th annual Boston International Film Festival (BIFF). BIFF offers 8 consecutive days of 110 films from over 27 countries with movie genres ranging from animation to comedy to political documentary. All films are being screened at AMC Loews Theatre Boston Common with additional screenings at Mass Art. The BIFF was created to spotlight independently produced films all across the world on stages here in the Hub. A juried festival of submissions from filmmakers provides Boston with a showcase of film that might not be seen here or elsewhere without the film festival. Romney and Menino hope that the festival will bring some prestige and press to Massachusetts and Boston – but it's helpful to enhance the recent success in pulling feature film production to Boston.
Incase you were wondering what the former heart-throb of 90210 Jason Priestly will be up to this Wednesday night (of course you were), the heads up on his whereabouts is that he’ll be at the BIFF Opening Gala, along with DB Sweeney, Diora Baird, Mike Starr, and Don Cheadle. However, you don’t need to give out any regrettable favors to get into to this (sort-of-VIP) party. If you come to the first screening on Wednesday night (3 shorts and one full-length feature) your ticket will get you in to the after party.
You can buy tickets on-line, at Loews, or by calling ticketweb at 866.468.7619.
Boston International Film Festival runs Wednesday, June 7 through Thursday, June 15 a full schedule of events is available on their website.
