Riding around in a German squad car looking for your hotel after walking the streets of the city for many hours by yourself, only to show up at your rented doorstep moments before dawn: Priceless
Reuters "Oddly Enough" feature is always good for a laugh at someone else's misfortune or giggle at the ridiculousness of some breaking news item that is more human interest than actual news. It is surprisingly rare that the stories don't often include Boston in the mix. Today was an occasion when we found one of our own featured on the wire while also causing us to feel a little sorry for the chap. The story goes that a 25 year old Boston man checked into his hotel, paid 10 Euros for a taxi ride in which he passed a Mercedes dealer and a park. After he watched the Costa Rica and Poland game he attempted to return to his hotel. He walked around Hanover, Germany looking for his hotel until he finally gave up and walked into the police station to ask for assistance. They obliged. Eliminating all the Mercedes dealers (reportedly there are many in Hanover) that weren't near parks they drove him around the area until he recognized his hotel just before dawn. It sucks to be lost in a foreign country and not know where you are. At least he knew in which city he was staying. All this and not a single Polish joke was cracked.
Flickr user GISuser.com shows us where the teams are staying. Can you find where a Bostonian might be lost?
