Gammons Recuperating After Surgery

gammo.jpg Baseball fans across the country, especially those from New England, know that the ultimate and most respected writer in the baseball world, for the past 30-40 years is Mr. Peter Gammons. Hailing from our own Groton Mass. and currently calling Cape Cod his home, "Gammo" has written for the Globe (for several tours), Sports Illustrated, currently serves as a baseball analyst, blogger and reporter for ESPN, and calls into WEEI on the regular. This guy IS baseball. Some would consider him the truest ambassador and would-be (should-be) commissioner that the Major Leagues has seen in years. And that's no hyperbole.

Yesterday baseball fans were dismayed to hear that Gammo was flown into Boston to have surgery on an aneurysm that struck him in the early hours at his home on the Cape. Reports say that Gammons will be in intensive care for the better part of the next two weeks.

Bostonist will speak for many when he says "get well soon" to Mr. Gammons.

Until his release, nothing short of extending the unbeaten streak, in his honor, is expected of the Boston Red Sox.
