Wednesday Webcast Review: Simply Ming
It has been a while since Bostonist has reviewed a video webcast. This week we take a look at a 'cast that is sure to be enjoyed by cooks and aspriring cooks alike. This week, we take a look at Simply Ming, a video webcast from one of Boston's most well known chefs, Ming Tsai.
In culinary terms, the Simply Ming video webcast can be seen as an appetizer to his public television show of the same name. The webcast episodes are usually anywhere from 2 to 3 minutes in length and focus on very specific cooking topics. For instance, a recent episode focused on a technique called roll cutting which is often used in asian cooking to increase the surface area of food being stir-fried.
The shows are professionally produced and look great on the computer or the iPod. As we stated earlier, they are short, and as such are easy to digest (pun intended). The brevity makes them more accessible, but does not make them the most complete source for information on any particulary topic. What these episodes will do is whet your appetite. Unfortunatlely, they don't quite quench your thirst.
So, is this lean 'cast full of flavor or is it just empty calories? We think anyone looking to learn a little bit about cooking will enjoy the 'cast. We also think that you might be left wanting to know a bit more, and that's where the full show comes in (do you think that was intentional?). We think the Simply Ming video webcast is a good addition to your webcast diet.

That's a good idea. I bet he will make a fortune off of his webcast. I'll have to tell the wifie about it.
