Gearing up for July 4th festivities reminds us a bit of what it was like being a kid. The spectacular event that is the fireworks display has always been something Bostonist looks forward to every year. So maybe we're getting a little nostalgic for the backyard BBQ, sparklers and snakes, and slip and slides. And Summer Camp. But sometimes it rained; we couldn't go outside and play. Those times called for a little bit of the Movie Loft on TV 38. As the slow march back to an independent station begins for UPN 38 we find YouTube is now playing host to someone's old recording of Dana Hersey in his off-beat reporting show "We Don't Knock." Not only will today's video make you miss the good old days of TV 38, fashionable blue leather jackets, and big bangs, you may even miss the Rat and what was pre- Hotel Commonwealth Kenmore Square. When UPN 38 goes back to an independent we're crossing our fingers for two things: They bring Sox games back over-air, at least now and again, and that the Dana Hersey will start co-hosting the Phantom Gourmet.

15+ years ago I remember watching a movie on the Loft and I was surprised to see that it was unedited. For the first time I hear the s-word (or was it the f-word?) on broadcast TV. If I think long enough, I'll remember what movie it was.
Sox games would be great to see. They really had cussing back then?
