Hub: The Series

Every now and again an internet video catches the eye as being tangentially relevant to current events. In these instances there's a unique opportunity for us to make an irrelevant point about pop culture and the news while showcasing a couple of minutes of multimedia. Today we take the opportunity to highlight the fact that the 39th murder this year in the city of Boston took place yesterday. The recent upswing in violent crime has been slightly offset with a dip in burglaries.

The franchise crime drama has taken off with Law and Order and its many forms, followed closely by CSI in Vegas, Miami, NYC. The rough and tumble city of Baltimore has been home to Homicide (and Belzer in his first incarnation as Detective Munch) and The Wire. But Crossing Jordan and Boston Legal just aren’t filling our need for Boston-based crime drama. With the increasing rate of violent crime The Hub, a pilot series filmed in Boston with local actors by a local director, is set to be submitted to the New York Television Festival in September. Two episodes have been completed (you can watch the trailer for each on YouTube) and another couple are still in the works. Cross your fingers and someday soon hard hitting crime drama will take to the streets of Roxbury and Dorchester.
