So Many DJs, So Little Time

The collegiate population may deem Thursdays "Thirsty Thursdays", but as a majority of them have departed our fine city for internships in New York, jobs back home, or foreign lands - we here at Bostonist HQ have come to view Thursday as dance night. As such, here is a brief rundown of just a few of your Thursday night options.

Bostonist favorites, Next Generation Productions, are holding it down at their usual Thursday night spot, Redline in Cambridge. Instead of hearing the stylings of DJ Elyte, & Company though, tonight celebrates their second "Early 90's Dance Jam" with guest DJs Young Will Smith, Chuck D, and Stereo MC. The night is also celebrating the launch of the Urban Critique website, "a music and art publicity web zine dedicated to promoting local musicians and artists from the Boston area."

If Harvard Square isn't your scene, make your way down Mass Ave to the Enormous Room in Central Square for Bankrupt, presented by Puma. Local DJs Gucci Vuitton (Oliver Mak of Bodega and Project SF fame) and Gabriel J will be there in addition to guest DJs from Chi-town Flosstradamus. The event jumps off at 10:00 pm and goes until 2:00 am, no cover, 21 +.

Crossing the river takes you to Bill's Bar for a night with DJ's Red Foxxworth and E-Marce. We caught Red Foxx at the old Future Classics loft space a few weeks ago and loved every minute of his set, so this should be really good. Also, be sure to look out for his Hearthrob Night with DJs Morgan Louis, Erik Pearson, and Sensitive Hand every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at Middlesex Lounge. Tonight though, Bill's Bar is 18+ (slight potential for some young ones here), and there is probably a small cover.

Bankrupt at the Enormous Room seemed like a pretty good post (at least from the linked sites and sounds). HOWEVER, this reader needs at least a few days advance notice if he's going to hit the scene. Unlike some -ist readers, I don't check the site every minute of the day. Unfortunately there are a million different things going on in Boston at any given moment. As such, I missed hitting up the Enormous Room and groovin' to some awesome tunes. Is there a better way to get the 411?
Sure, Bostonist has linked to a few sites that promise to have the lowdown on the happening events, but they don't cater to all the tastes everyone might have. I'm not complaining, just putting it out there.

we'll try and give a better heads up in the future - this just kind of came together at the last minute. If you're looking for more breadth we'd love to give it to ya, just looking for a few folks willing to help us out with that.

the best site for keeping track of actual dance music events in Boston is the infamous Mission Control -- http://www.miscon.net/ -- also, their is one huge glaring omission from this list that is so intense it almost devours the rest of the post in it's wake. Thursday nights for the past 7 years..... E-L-E-M-E-N-T-S drum and bass @ the Phoenix Landing; aka. the best pub/dance music spot Boston has.

Also, for the even more adventurous dance purveyors, check out Psyforia nights thrown by Sonic Beating; they happen somewhat randomly throughout the summer usually on friday nights at the American Legion (outdoors sometimes!!) in Cambridge:
