Bostonist spends the morning hours in a car commuting like many of you out there. Finding podcasts that makes the commuting experience enjoyable can be a tall order. Well, we think we found one such podcast. The Morning Stories podcast has made sitting in traffic on Route 9 a much more pleasant experience.
The Morning Stories podcast is produced by Tony Kahn for Boston's own WGBH. The idea behind this 'cast is to bring you stories, on a weekly basis, that you can listen to in the morning and that will stay with you all day. The stories can be anything from profound moments in a person's life to an amusing thing that someone once saw. All of the stories carry with them a message and all of them are a joy to listen to in the morning.
As this podcast is produced and directed by a broadcast veteran, one would expect it to have a professional sound and feel. Morning Stories doesn't disappoint in that regard. The sound is great whether you are listening on your computer's speakers, your ipod's earbuds, or your car's stereo system. Tony Kahn conducts interviews and provides commentary as good as anyone. And, as mentioned earlier, the stories are always interesting.
Despite being produced in Boston, the stories should appeal to listeners whether they are from the area or not. We like it when there is a Boston connection to the episode, but we cannot fault them for feeling that there are interesting non-Boston stories out there.
We wholeheartedly recommend Morning Stories to anyone who has to endure driving in rush hour traffic in the morning. But, if you are lucky enough to take the subway to work, or even if you happen to work from home, we think that taking a few minutes to listen to Morning Stories might help you start your day with a smile. That, and a cup of good coffee would help.
