<description>&lt;p&gt;I&apos;ve heard drivers from CA refer to proper merging as in your illustration as the zipper merge.  The people in the lane ending line themselves up with the gaps the people in the continuing lane leave.  Amazingly, when everyone participates, it works beautifully!  Given the average level of education of most MA residents, it&apos;s embarassing that we can&apos;t figure out something so basic...&lt;/p&gt;</description>
