Mr. Skin: You misunderstand, methinks. It is clearly a warning (diamond-shaped sign) and it clearly says heterosexuals only. Hence, not scary, merely informative: if you want to find homosexuals, there's no point in looking in this crosswalk.

That's kinda scary!?? But it might be scarier if it said "Homosexuals Only."

"we're not sure exactly what the message is" Clearly this is saying that only heterosexuals are found in the crosswalk, as in: Warning, you won't find any homosexuals in the crosswalk!
