Wherein we Have Reason to Report on Mel Gibson

camerasatfenway.jpgMel Mania was clogging the tubes. The Best Week Ever blog even reported that they'd broken their own record – posting on Mel Gibson more in one week than even Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton. We're not sure if Mel "what you looking at sugar tits?" Gibson was watching NESN's coverage of the Sox game earlier this week, even if he wasn't the video and transcript are available throughout the series of tubes. Denis Leary was on hand at the game to honor firemen and promote his charities. After he was done on the field he hopped up to the broadcast booth with Lenny Clarke, where they had Remy in tears. Upon learning that Youkilis wasn't Greek but actually Jewish he launched into Mel Gibson for his anti-semitic tirade. The Braveheart jokes were laid on a little thick, and none of the NESN boys could really keep up with the comedy – but Youkilis could. Ending the inning by catching a toss from Schilling and picking off a runner at first Leary and Clarke erupted with support of the stand up guy we've got on first base…oh, and stuck it to Mel Gibson again.

First of all, it's Denis Leary, not Dennis. Second, it was Leary and Lenny Clarke in the booth with the NESN guys, and Clarke was the one making my eyes water with laughter. The blog you link to with the transcript notes both comedians, but Seth spells Clarke's name wrong. Sheesh. The Youkilis banter was all the more hilarious because it seemed he was involved with every play that inning.
