Fenway Park More Valuable than White House?

targetgame.jpgSince it was introduced in 1935, Parker Brothers' Monopoly has delighted all those broke folks out there hoping that one day they could own Park Place (with hotels even). For those of us in 2006, we still dream of someday being able to afford any sort of real estate in the Boston area, so we turn to board games to make our fantasies a reality. In honor of Monopoly's 70th birthday, Parker Brothers is launching "Monopoly Here and Now" tomorrow which includes real-life real estate at real-life prices. So what are some hot properties now that Marvin Gardens and St. James Place are out? Well, the White House, Disney World, and the Golden Gate Bridge all make the board and Boston's own Fenway Park beats all of them in value. For a mere $3.5 million to buy, you can own this landmark throughout the game and charge your fellow players $350,000 in rent when they land on it. Fenway replaces the old Park Place spot, while New York's Times Square takes over the richest property spot (usually the Boardwalk spot).

Parker Brothers actually had the American public vote on which landmarks they thought should be included in their latest revamp of the classic game. They've even revamped all the playing pieces to include a Hybrid car, a laptop, and a cell phone.

Now that Monopoly is keeping with the times, how about the Clue makers revamp their version and replace the "Conservatory" with a home theater?
