Get Your Spot at The Village Table

Last January, Bostonist came across a cute little spot in Bay Village called Rachel's Kitchen; we loved their "grilled cheese deluxe" and loved even more that the place actually had real owners, Rachel and Alon, who work side-by-side each day at the Kitchen. While the place has great food, it is tiny and can make it hard to secure a seat. They've decided to expand their restaurant business and are currently in the works to launch The Village Table, which they hope to open a few blocks away from their current place.

They've teamed up with a manager from Sel de la Terre and a chef from Lumiere and have hit the streets of Boston looking for help in getting their idea off the ground. If you've ever thought of opening your own restaurant (or financing one for all you high rollers out there), then reach deep into your pockets and donate through PayPal to The Village Table. With your donation of anywhere from $5 to $25 (and up if you'd like), you'll not only feel good about supporting a locally owned business-to-be, but your name will be put up on the wall of the restaurant when it opens. (You'll also get 25% off your first meal in the place.)

They've posted a sample menu which appears to be American food with a Southern flavor; it includes fried apple "pie", The Village Dip Dog, and a corn bread panzenella salad with heirloom tomatoes...and yes, the delicious "grilled cheese deluxe" will also be served at The Village Table.

You can donate through the website or stop by Rachel's Kitchen, open Monday through Saturday, and talk to the owners themselves.

May we suggest adding some sort of cupcake dessert to the menu?

The image above is a excerpt of the handwritten copy of the sample menu. We love the exclamation points.
