We're not quite sure how the day is going to end. We could see 100% voter turnout (not likely), a huge upset in the democratic gubernatorial race with a write in campaign for Dukakis (also unlikely), September 19, 2006 being declared Fox News Channel Day by both the City of Boston and the State of Massachusetts (boy, we thought this was impossible), people roaming the streets with speech peppered with Yarr and Matey (how is that not possible?). Whatever happens, the evening will likely involve waiting for the results of the primary election today while pondering the true meaning of the word booty in the modern lexicon.
Not only is September 19, 2006 primary day in the Commonwealth, but it's the eleventh annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and early this morning was officially declared by a decree issued by Mayor Menino and read by the actor who normally portrays Paul Revere as Fox News Channel Day. On this morning's Fox and Friends Broadcast – which Bostonist tuned into because they were broadcasting live from Quincy Market – the decree was read. Shortly after that segment, Governor Mitt Romney appeared on the program for a short parody of life in the Governors office followed by the presentation of a declaration naming Fox News Channel Day to be statewide. Ye be knowin' that this be the barnacles on our hull. The primary elections can share the day with International Talk Like a Pirate Day (in our heads we filled in our circles with a "Yarr" instead of a yes), but sharing the honor of ITLaPD with Fox News Channel Day is more difficult to swallow. Sports Redux: One Goal, And One Goal Only

I think that this day was more successful for wanna-be pirates who were closer to a chowder source. In the Pioneer Valley it was mostly a no-go unfortunately, and it was uncomfortable to utter the few "wenches" that I could.
