We got excited back when the acceptance letter came in. We were again enthused when Alex decided to come to MIT. Just recently we watched the daily strip as MIT made some of the first appearances,
even if it was only on the phone. Today, after a week at MIT only in the dorm room, we actually get to go outside. The tour of the Cambridge campus features the Stata Center – or as noted in the strip Building 32. Yep. Those wacky MIT engineers are crazy for numbers and don't rely much on building names. Apparently the War on Terror isn't as interesting as commentary about campus life and Cambridge quirks. Lucky for us the nation now knows the dirty little secret of the Seuss inspired building we call Stata. In other MIT news this week: a Smoot won a Nobel Prize. Not the Smoot but a distant relative who was also MIT educated.
