Boston's Got a New Block of Cheese

Cabot-IPA_BeerCheddar.gifBeer is good. Cheese is good. There is a real problem with combining a really great beer with really good cheese: we're not going to eat less cheese or drink less beer. In fact, it's likely that consumption of both will increase. Harpoon Brewery and Cabot Creamery have teamed up and created a new cheese. What goes better with Harpoon IPA than when eating some co-branded Cabot Harpoon IPA Cheddar?

The cheddar is soaked in beer until the hops invade the curds. We rushed right out to grab a block of the cheese and a taste test proved us right. Beer and cheese is a great combination when the cheese is soaked in beer. The beer the cheese was soaked in, well, that's a different story. The cheddar is a little oily, as you might expect from a rich Cabot, but it's also got a good hint of hops resulting from the aging in beer. Harpoon has a whole list of places you can find it – the list includes most local Trader Joe's and Market Basket locations. It's even available as far west as Seattle (though admittedly not too many spots in between).
