Weekly Music Picks: Election Coverage Edition

musicpickweeklylarge.jpg
Enough music to rock because you're happy or rock because you're sad. No matter if the candidate you were supporting won or lost you can find solace in the upbeat or comfort in the emo.

bostonistico.jpgWitchcraft, with Danava and Marissa Nadler
Formed as a Swedish Pentagram tribute band in 2000, Witchcraft makes records in an alternate universe where it's always 1971. Bostonist is very taken with opening act Marissa Nadler, a folk-noir balladeer from Needham who lists the Carter Family and "Egon Schiele's naked ladies" as influences.
Middle East Upstairs, 18+, 9 pm, $9

bostonistico.jpgKaskade
According to his web site, wunderkind DJ Kaskade is just a regular guy, a West Coast dude who eschews sequined shirts and wears flip-flops to the club. But he still spins better than you, so if you're one to dance, check him out.
Underbar, 21+, 10 pm

bostonistico.jpgLyrics Born with Cut Chemist and Edan
Middle East Downstairs, 18+, $18adv / $20dos, 8pm
Along with DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, and Jeff Chang, Lyrics Born founded Quannum precursor SoleSides back in 1992. Since then, he's continued to "redefine what good hip hop should be" by kicking out massive funk jams seamlessly blended with a diverse array of styles, mad flow and complex rhymes. He's joined by turntable wizard Cut Chemist (who's no longer touring with J5) and Edan, aka the Humble Magnificent (Boston Represent!), who brings his never ending quest to "put Syd Barrett's face on Biz Markie's body with Kool G Rap's brain" back home.
