Friday Flashback: Holy Zayres Batman!

Caldor, Bradlees, Ames, and Zayres - bygone discount department stores which elicit fond childhood memories of shopping with grandma and an occasional ride on the quarter op machines sitting out front. These day's it's all about the Target and TJMaxx, but they've got something different; a unique mystique. Caldor and Bradlees went but it was Zayers that made an awkward transition to Ames before the whole mall went bust and became the suburban wonder of a dead mall. Zayres, the Framingham based chain, offered 24 hour shopping from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve. Apparently Batman and Robin were in for the 3am run.
