Who would have thought that two stars of the early '90s comedy flop The Adventures of Ford Fairlane would converge upon Boston on the same night? And who would have thought that night would be New Year's Eve?
Mr. Ford Fairlane himself, tough-guy comedian Andrew Dice Clay, will perform at the Comedy Connection. He made his career insulting practically anyone who stepped in his path, which was part of his downfall. But he's shooting a new reality-television series for VH1, and audiences may be witness to a comeback.
If you're the type who breaks out in hives at the sound of the words "politically correct," then this show might be for you. The Dice Man himself admitted in an interview that, given the simmering rage of these times, "People need a guy like me right now." However, Bostonist suggests that you avoid the front row, lest the Dice Man sprinkle you with the ashes of his ever-present cigarette.
The other Ford Fairlane alum is rapper/actor Tone Loc, who made his movie debut in the Dice Man vehicle as "Slam the Rapper." Tone Loc will be serving up some Funky Cold Medina at Rain in Malden. Tone Loc may not have released a record in a long time, but his raunchy party rap will suit the tastes of those in the mood to get crunk on New Year's Eve. Just so you know, a Funky Cold Medina is a mix of vodka, Southern Comfort, and Blue Curacao.
Andrew Dice Clay will be at the Comedy Connection at 9:15 pm and 11:30 pm on New Year's Eve. It's 100 smackers, plus a champagne toast. Tone Loc will celebrate the holiday at Rain in Malden, and the admission is a comparatively low 30 bucks in advance and 40 at the door.
