Trump Likes 'Em Young

apprentice.jpgWe all know about Donald Trump's taste in women. His wives get younger and younger. The same might go for Trump's chosen contestants on The Apprentice, according to a lawsuit filed in Boston by a man who is accusing the toupeed mogul of age discrimination.

When Richard J. Hewett tried out for the show in 2005, he was 49. He didn't make it past the first tryout. There's any number of reasons he didn't make it to the next level, and the case for age discrimination is pretty flimsy.

However, one look at the young, fresh faces on The Apprentice makes it seem like people get chosen for their looks as much as for their ambition. Age might not be the real factor. This season, two 37-year-olds are competing. Both could be considered good-looking. We don't know what Mr. Hewett looks like, but compared to one of the many nubile, female, 25-year-old attorneys from Southern California who always wind up on that show, we can guess that Mr. Hewett had tough competition.

Then again, why would Mr. Hewett want to go through the Apprentice audition experience? Tim Urban, the contestant from Newton on this season, has a blog and describes the second-round interview experience as such: "There were a series of painfully long psychological tests, an IQ test, and a bunch of nerve-wracking one-on-one interviews and debates. We were told when to eat and could not leave our room under any circumstances, unless summoned."

And that happens when Trump likes you. Imagine what happens when The Donald is in the mood to play hardball. Mr. Hewett might just find out what that's like.

You've got it wrong. It's not that the wives keep getting younger; they're all the same age. But the Donald keeps getting older.
