Is That an Audi in Your Gallery, or Are You...?

You can take the T to Green Street, but you can’t take your car. Well, you can take your car to the Green Street Station on the Orange Line. There’s on street parking not too far by, but please, please, don’t put your car inside the Green Street Station. After cracking down on 123 Party! and their dancing “antics” on Boylston Street the police moved down to Jamaica Plain to stop more dangerous art before it began. The Dig is reporting that Ravi Jain’s car has been removed from the Green Street Gallery, the new home of Axiom, before the show opened. The police determined that a gas tank full of fuel sitting inside a car, (essentially) inside a MBTA station was hazard enough to order it removed.

Ravi Jain is the artist behind DriveTime a vlog that captures his commute from Jamaica Plain to Allston. He invites guests to come along and appear on the show with him. The would-be installation was to create interactive art in the Green Street location where the actual car, with actual video blogging equipment, showing actual video blogs would be installed. It was, until Drive Time had to remove the vehicle. Steve Garfield, another local video blogger, was called in to help push the car out of the gallery. All this nonsense and the show hadn’t even opened. Ravi Jain explains it himself of the Drive Time site:

While Studio-A won't be inside the gallery as planned (details on the kerfuffle here), I will be debuting a new single channel video piece, I've always wanted to put my Audi in a gallery.

Check out Axiom’s grand opening at the 141 Green Street location (adjacent/inside the Green Street stop on the Orange Line) tonight from 6 to 9 as they open the new exhibit iArt: A selection of new works created for PDAs. The exhibition opens tonight and runs through March 9, check the Axiom website for details and hours.
