Larry Summers Burger Deemed Unappetizing

Legendary Harvard Square joint Bartley's Burger Cottage, which christens it's juicy burgers after famous figures, has decided that the burger named after former president Larry Summers is passé.

Maybe diners avoided the burger out of protest for Summers' foot-in-mouth comments about the abilities of female academics. Or maybe they steered clear of the burger because its toppings of swiss cheese and honey mustard sounds like a downright nasty combination.

But it might be Bartley's sly insult to Ol' Larry that they gave him a less-than-sensational taste combo. Bill Bartley told the Harvard Crimson that the burger itself was "about as popular as Larry Summers."

Harvard prof and academic rock star Henry Louis "Skip" Gates Jr. might be off smirking in a corner. When Bartley's introduced the Summers Burger, they intentionally listed it above Gates' name as a gag. At the end of the day, it's the Gates Burger that has the staying power.

At least Larry Summers has some company. The John Kerry burger got dropped from the Bartley's lineup, too. Fame is fleeting, ain't it?
