In the interest of keeping up with how our local boys are doing in Hollywood, Bostonist is going to check in with Tim Urban of The Apprentice: Los Angeles and "Mr. Boston" from I Love New York.
In the Apprentice debut, Harvard man Urban was part of the hyperambitious freak parade. Each contestant tried to impress The Donald and the all-grown-up Ivanka Trump (it's news to us that she has business experience) with how many millions they handle every day, blah blah. But the true goal of The Apprentice is to make each suit-wearing tycoon wannabe sweat. To meet that goal, The Donald and The Ivanka had the contestants build a tent and then run a car wash.
Urban did fairly well in the debut show. When the really hyper project manager for his team ran off and left the rest of the team at the car wash, Urban proudly said, "I stepped up and filled the void." However, Tim's team wound up sleeping in a tent and facing The Donald in the boardroom. So "stepping up and filling the void" enabled the project manager to blame Urban for sluggish sales. Urban evaded getting fired, but he's already a target just because he isn't laying low.
"Mr. Boston" from I Love New York isn't laying low, either. He quickly impressed the pugnacious New York by getting into an argument with a surly thug type and declaring that the thug needed Ritalin. Frankly, the thug talked a good game but was so skinny that Mr. Boston probably could have won a physical fight provided guns weren't involved. On the downside, New York's mother, the stern "Sister Patterson," noted that the blonde Mr. Boston doesn't act like he's spent much time in front of black people. Well, in the next episode, Mr. Boston has plenty of opportunity to spend time with them when he shakes his pale fanny in front of New York and her mother during a "mangeant."
