Boston Blotter: Up in Smoke

up-in-smoke.jpgThe BPD must've smelled a lot of weed Wednesday night. One of their early reports describes what happened when they served a warrant: "Officers, on approaching suspect’s room, were immediately assaulted by the smell of burning marijuana."

Can marijuana "assault" the senses? If so, it must have been some terrible weed.

Upon further inspection, the officers found "a plastic sandwich bag containing green leafy vegetable matter believed to be marijuana." Bostonist wishes that the officer who prepared the report added, "It sure didn't look like oregano to us!"

In another pot-related incident early Thursday morning, a fellow was honest with the police, but he still got busted. The BPD spotted an idling car in Dorchester. Here's the rest of the report:

Officers approached this motor vehicle and there observed the suspect rolling a marijuana “blunt” cigarette. The suspect, consumed with rolling his “blunt” did not become aware of the officers’ presence until they knocked on his window. Officers asked the suspect what he was doing and he responded, “Just smoking a blunt!”

While not condoning the public consumption of marijuana "blunts," Bostonist feels bad for the guy. He didn't lie or run off or get ugly. Judging from how interested he was in his blunt, he probably couldn't even tell he was facing the law.

The last case in the BPD blotter that intrigued Bostonist doesn't even involve pot, but it must have involved some sort of illegal substance because of the stupidity involved. Universal Hub saw fit to headline the incident with "Our Dumb Criminals." This particular dumb criminal stole a credit card and ordered takeout with the card. Since the guy lived in the same apartment building as his victim, the law didn't have too much trouble finding him.

Oh, and even though this didn't involve Boston, was anyone else impressed by the fact that Michael Vick allegedly toted his "special" water bottle into Miami International Airport? That adds a whole new dimension to "bongwater."
