Ned Lamont has bounced back from Joe-Mentum by accepting a spot at Harvard.
Lamont defeated Joseph Lieberman in the Democratic primary for Connecticut senator. His anti-Iraq war led to his primary victory (wonder why?), but he lost in the final race because Lieberman reinvented himself as an Independent. And maybe there is something to "Joe-Mentum," although Bostonist hasn't the slightest idea what that could be.
Lamont will join ex-lieutenant governor Kerry "sourpuss" Healey as a resident fellow of the Institute of Politics. Lamont and Healey may never interact, but it's amusing to imagine what those two would talk about. About all they have in common is the fact that they went to Harvard, they lost high-stakes elections, and they're both loaded.
It's a weird mix, but keep in mind that former pro wrestler and Minnesota governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura was a fellow at the IOP, too.
Bostonist wondered exactly what these politicians do at the IOP. They seem to just hang out there and be cool, like Stephen Colbert. The press release explains that they "interact with students, participate in the intellectual life of the community and pursue individual studies or projects throughout an academic semester."
Feel the Ned-Mentum with this image taken from Lamont's old campaign site.

Democratic Primary Debate at WGBH: Transcript Time!

ok, ok, so I know winners come from Harvard (like Deval - thanks to comments on an earlier post) but this helps prove the theory that losers GO to Harvard.
Of course, they do nothing ... everyone knows that Political Science is the ultimate b.s. major anyway.
