Sports Redux: Slightly Sluggish Edition

bruins.jpgThings are quiet now that the Pats won't be at the Super Bowl, so Bostonist took a little breather from the Redux. The Bruins are also off for the NHL All-Star Break. That leaves the Celtics and, if Bostonist stretches a tad, the retirement of Bill "Tuna" Parcells, former Pats coach and professional zinger-slinger.

Celtics 89, San Antonio Spurs 93 (Monday night) – Beating the Celtics wasn't good enough for Tim Duncan. Apparently Duncan likes to rub salt in the wound: "Wins are wins, but it's frustrating not to close people out. It shouldn't have been that close. We allowed them to get back in the game." Uh, you won, Tim. And you're going to whine because you didn't win enough? Sheesh.

To whet your appetite for the Boston Marathon, Deena Kastor, who ran the fastest marathon in the world last year, has committed to running this year.

Sebastian Telfair's wardrobe was only the beginning of the relationship between fashion and sports. The NHL will be getting new uniforms that will keep the players less sweaty. (If a few of them lost their mullets, they'd cut down on a lot of sweat right there.)

The new uniforms were born of extensive testing, some of which took place at MIT: "Wind tunnel testing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology confirmed a 9 percent reduction in drag that should enable players to move faster on the ice."
