Doesn't a certain old saying go that if you are feeling - ahem - too amorous too early, you should think about baseball?
NESN begs to differ, as they've teamed up with Scout Productions for a new dating show called "Sox Appeal," which will start airing on NESN in July.
Dating shows are a dime a dozen, but this one will take place entirely in Fenway park. Here's how the show will work:
"Sox Appeal" follows a series of three, two-inning long blind dates that take place over the course of 8 televised Red Sox games. The cameras will follow one hero as they meet three romantic hopefuls (one every two innings). The hero will decide in the 7th inning who they will sit with for the end of the game.
Presumably, the winner will get peanuts and Cracker Jack. But the show won't be too exciting. If the people involved are Red Sox fans, then they'll be so absorbed in the game that they won't want to flirt. If they aren't Red Sox fans, what's the point of watching the dating show in the first place?

aww this is an adorable picture!
oh and i like the show idea, too.
clever! go nesn!
At face value, it makes sense. I mean, it seems to remedy that whole dealbreaking business of finding out that a prospective suitor dares to don a Yankees cap; odds are good that even a mismatch kind of date would provide at least a lively debate over the latest with the team.
But then there's the fact that unless Theo Epstein is sitting next to me, odds are good that I would be more focused on the game than the guy. Particularly if NESN were to hook us up with some sweet seats.
I mean, um, hi, NESN. Want to give this a go? What was that -- Monster Seats? Nice! Let's chat...
